Banana Flower- Cashew and Coconut Gravy

Banana Flower (Vazhappoo) is treated as a herbal medicine for treating menstrual problems in women. It is usually cooked in S.India with grated coconut only. Here is a delicious variation, that I tried myself this week Ingredients: 1. Banana flower- cleaned and chopped - 1 cup 2. Onion-1 3. Tomato-1 4. Cashews- handful, Grated coconut-1 handful 5. Moong dhal- 1 handful 6. Chilli powder- 1 tbsp and Salt- as needed Pressure cook the banana flower with moong dhal adding less water for about 3 whistles, adding 1/2 tbsp of turmeric powder. In a pan, add oil and add the onion and tomatoes and fry them until the onion is cooked. Add chilli powder and salt and ensure that the onion- tomato mixture is well cooked. Now, add the banana flower mixture to this. Grind cashew nuts and coconut together adding little water. Add this mixture to the cooking gravy and cook in slow flame. Once the mixture is well cooked, this goes as a great side dish with rice/roti.
