Uppuma Kozhakkattai -Yummy!




This is a steamed dish, and is usually not available in hotels.

Served with Idli Podi.

Ingredients:

1. Raw Rice- 1 cup

2. To saute: Mustard- 1/2 tbsp, 3 red chillies, 1 handful of curry leaves

3. Coconut pieces- 1 handful


Rinse the raw rice and set aside for 20 min.
Add 1/2 tbsp of salt and mix well.

Grind this in the blender until it is in Sooji consistency ( No need to grind to a fine powder).

In a pan, add oil, add mustard, red chillies (split into two), curry leaves (tear them before putting).

Once these start splattering add 2 cups of water, add required amount of salt.

When the water starts boiling, add rice powder and mix well, so that there are no lumps.

Once all the water has evaporated, switch off the stove.

Once this cools, make balls and steam this for 1-2 whistles.
