Brahmi (Vallarai) Thogayal for Good Memory
We can see companies like Himalaya actively selling capsules based on Brahmi.
Brahmi or Vallarai keerai is available in Singapore (thanks to sourcing from Malaysia). You can find it in most grocery shops in Little India area.
Here is a simple recipe that can help children on their memory, and adults on maintaining their blood pressure at normalcy.
Ingredients:
1. Cleaned Vallarai leaves- 1 cup (take only the leaves)
2. Sesame oil- 3 tbsp
3. Tamarind- equal to 1 half of a small lime.
4. Urad dhal- 1 tbsp
5. Channa dhal- 1 tbsp.
6. Red chillies- 3
7. Salt- as per your taste.
1. In a dry pan,add sesame oil and toast the leaves in the layer of oil for about 2-3 minutes.
2. Then add the urad dhal and channa dhal, and red chillies and fry them until the color of the dhal changes to brown.
3. Cool the ingredients and grind with Tamarind and salt.
This is a good side dish for most of our Indian food and can be eaten with rice/dosa/chapathi.
When refrigerated shelf life is around 4 days.
