Baking Made Simple- Reuse your Mini Idli Plates!

In a time, where we should give more importance to 3 Rs- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, how many of us are constantly trying to reduce our buying/consumption of goods we rarely use?

If you are new to baking, here is a great innovative idea to try baking biscuits without any oven.

I got delicious, yum biscuits in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients for Whole Wheat flour Biscuits:
1 Cup Atta (Wheat flour)
2 tbsp of All Purpose Flour (Maida)
1/2 cup of melted butter (Ghee)
1/2 cup of white/brown sugar
1/4 tbsp of Cardamom powder
1/4 tbsp of Baking powder

To Garnish: Mix of nuts of your choice- finely grated.

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and make a dough.

Take a Mini idli mould like this and fill each pit with a small ball of dough.

To make patterns on the idlis, you can even use Okra (Ladies Finger).

Cut one okra and use it to imprint on the biscuit. You can even use any other patterns. I used something like Fryums (Rice Based Fries).

Take a heavy bottom container (one with a lid) and fill with 4 packets of salt and heat it for 5 minutes.

Place a stand inside the container and keep the idli plate and steam it for 18 minutes.

If you intend to garnish, you can substitute patterns with nuts of your choice.
