Coconut Momos- Chettinad style Thengaai Kozhakattai
This recipe is from an aunt from Chettinad.This is easy to try!
Ingredients:
1 cup raw rice
1 cup idli rice
1 cup grated coconut
1 tbsp butter
Curry leaves -few
Cooking time:30 minutes
No side dish is needed
Procedure:
1.Soak both rice together for 3 hours
2.Rinse and grind coarsely in a blender. Do not add water when grinding
3.take the rice from the blender and transfer to a mixing bowl
4.add butter,salt ,grated coconut and finely chopped curry leaves
5.take a pan and cook this mixture in slow flame until excess water is gone!.The consistency should be that you are able to make balls with this dough easily.
6.Switch off the stove. Let the mixture cool for 5-10 mins.
7.Grease plates with oil. You can use idli or idiappam plates. Then roll into small balls
8.Pour required amount of water for steaming and cook for ten minutes
9.Delicious rice and coconut dumplings is ready!
