Thengaipaal Biryaani - Coconut Milk Biryani


1. Carrot - 1
2. Potato- Big -1
3. Beans- 10- finely chopped
4. Coconut Milk- from one big coconut.
5. Rice- 2 cups. (For one cup rice,  1cup and 1/4 cup of water and the 1 cup and 1/4 cup of Coconut milk)
In total, a cup of rice would need 2.5 cups of water+coconut milk
6. Onion-4 finely chopped
7. Chilli powder- 1 tbsp
8. Tomatoes- 2 finely chopped
9. Turmeric- 1/2 tbsp
10. Ginger/Garlic paste- 2tbsp
11. Bay Leaf- 2 tbsp.
12. Ghee - 2 tbsp
13. Oil- 2 tbsp.



Wash the rice and keep it aside and let it soak in water for 30 mins.
 Grind the coconut in a blender and extract the milk.

In  a pressure cooker bottom, add ghee and oil. Once it gets hot, add  bay leaf, Onions, Ginger/garlic paste and fry well.
Then add  tomatoes, turmeric and chilli powder and fry well. Add the required amount of chopped vegetables and then add the required amount of salt (including for rice). Add the rice and coconut milk and water using the proportion indicated above.

Close the cooker and keep for 2 whistles. This will taste very well as it is made with coconut milk
